Community Member Grant Opportunity – Ontario Bike Summit

The City of Mississauga is accepting applications from community members who would like to attend the Ontario Bike Summit, with registration fees being paid for by the City. The Bike Summit, hosted by the Share the Road Cycling Coalition, is an annual event that brings together municipal staff, advocates and community members to learn more about what is happening in Ontario and beyond in cycling. The theme of this year’s event is Making Connections and will feature 2-days of speakers and workshops looking at building a connected network, making multi-modal connections, e-mobility, transportation equity and more.

This year Share the Road has a special offer form municipalities to help build community capacity. The discounted “community ticket” is available to municipalities to send a community member who would otherwise not attend the summit. For $250 municipalities can purchase a ticket to send a community member to the event. Advisory Committee members, members of the Board of Directors of community groups or their paid staff are not eligible.

If you are a resident of Mississauga, are 18 years of age or over, and would like to attend the Ontario Bike Summit,  please fill out the below application form. The applications will be reviewed by a jury that includes municipal staff and members of the Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee. The reviewers will make a recommendation to the full MCAC at the March 10th meeting, with their recommendation subsequently being sent to General Committee and Council for approval.

Community members who are selected will be required to sign a release form which will include conditions for participation, including but not limited to the following: a) attendance at the 2020 Ontario Bike Summit is mandatory and non-transferable; b) should the individual fail to attend the 2020 Ontario Bike Summit, the individual will be responsible for reimbursing the City the total value of registration fees.

The deadline for applications is Thursday, March 5th at 4:30PM.
